Decades of Portuguese roasting
Founded in the 1980s by José Maria Vieira and still part of the family-run Grupo JMV, Torrié grew from a regional Portuguese roaster into a national favourite and, today, an international one, without ever losing what made it: an obsession with quality and the craft of roasting.
Every Torrié blend is built from arabica and robusta beans selected at origin and harvested at the peak of ripeness, then roasted in Portugal using techniques refined over decades. It's a slow, careful approach that gives Torrié its signature: rich body, deep aroma and a smooth, low-acidity finish.
That commitment has been recognised with numerous national and international quality awards, and Torrié has stayed restlessly innovative, among the first to bring the true taste of Portuguese coffee to convenient, machine-compatible pods, including a home-compostable range.
Roasted in a nation that lives for coffee
Few countries take their coffee as seriously as Portugal. The morning bica (Lisbon's name for a short, intense espresso, or a cimbalino in Porto) is a daily ritual, poured in historic cafés like Lisbon's A Brasileira, open since 1905 and once the haunt of poet Fernando Pessoa.
Portugal's coffee story runs deeper still. As a great seafaring nation, Portugal helped carry coffee across the world, famously establishing it in Brazil and cultivating it in Angola, origins that became renowned in their own right. It's no coincidence that those same origins appear in the Torrié range today.
